Los Angeles is home to several renowned film schools. You can’t tour them like a studio, but their campuses, screenings and events are part of the city’s film life.
The big three
The USC School of Cinematic Arts is on the University of Southern California campus near Exposition Park; UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television is on the Westwood campus; and the AFI Conservatory, run by the American Film Institute, is on Western Avenue near Griffith Park.
Also in the area
LMU’s School of Film and Television is near LAX, CalArts is in Valencia to the north, and Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts is in Orange County.

Check each school’s website for public screenings and events. For film history, visit the Academy Museum on Wilshire Boulevard, take a studio tour, or see a premiere-style screening at the TCL Chinese Theatre.
