Santa Barbara: the back story
The back story

About Santa Barbara: the back story
Santa Barbara is a coastal city of red-tiled roofs and white walls between the mountains and the Pacific, about 95 miles north-west of Los Angeles.
The Mission
Mission Santa Barbara, on Laguna Street, is one of California’s historic missions.
The coast
The waterfront, beaches and State Street are the heart of the town.
Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner runs along the coast from LA Union Station to Santa Barbara.
Getting there
Drive up the 101, or take Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner from Union Station for the coastal views.
Our advice: take the train one way for the coast views.
