Hollywood: the back story
The back story

About Hollywood: the back story
Hollywood is a district of Los Angeles whose name became shorthand for the American film industry. Its boulevard still carries the Walk of Fame, the TCL Chinese Theatre and the Dolby Theatre, home of the Oscars.
The Boulevard
Hollywood Boulevard’s Walk of Fame, the TCL Chinese Theatre, the Dolby Theatre and Musso & Frank Grill are a short walk apart, with the Metro B Line at Hollywood/Highland.

The studios
The Paramount lot is on Melrose Avenue, next to Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
The first Academy Awards were held at The Hollywood Roosevelt, opposite the Chinese Theatre.
Music and theatre
The Hollywood Bowl sits in the hills just north of the Boulevard, and the Pantages stages touring Broadway shows.
Our advice: arrive early to beat the crowds on the Boulevard, then head up to the Hollywood Bowl or Griffith Observatory for the evening.
